How to Support Your Clients Between Sessions (Simple Aftercare for Better Results)

How to Support Your Clients Between Sessions (Without Overcomplicating It)

One of the biggest challenges for bodyworkers and therapists is aftercare..

How do you support your clients between sessions without giving them too much to remember?

Most people leave the treatment room feeling more open, balanced or released
but by the time they get back to work, back to mum-life, or back into training…
their body falls into the same old patterns.

And the truth is:

✔ Clients don’t need a long rehab program.

✔ They don’t need pages of exercises.

✔ They don’t need complicated routines.

They need simple, accessible resets that help the body feel safe, mobile and supported between sessions.

Below are three powerful, therapist-approved resets you can give to any client

without overwhelming them.

1. Lower Body Mini Reset (Hips + Glutes + Hamstrings)

This is perfect for clients with:
– hip tightness
– low back pain
– glute tension or weakness
– hamstring overactivity
– desk posture
– running or gym load

How to cue it:

  1. 👉Light glute release with a ball (30–60 sec)

  2. 👉Hip mobility: knee drops

  3. (30 sec each side)

  4. 👉Hamstring lengthening: slow hinge + breath

  5. (5–8 reps)

Why it works:
Releasing the glutes and hips reduces compensation higher up the chain and helps stabilise the pelvis.
It gives clients a grounded, functional way to maintain space you created on the table.

2. Upper Body Mini Reset (Neck + Shoulders + T-Spine)

Perfect for clients with:
– neck tension
– shoulder guarding
– headaches
– stress patterns
– shallow breathing
– desk/work posture

How to cue it:

  1. 👉Seated thoracic rotations (30 sec each side)

  2. 👉Chest opening stretch

  3. (20–30 sec)

  4. 👉Upper trap/lev scap

  5. self-release with a ball

  6. (30–60 sec)

Why it works:
Most upper body tension is tied to breath, posture and stress.
This mini reset helps restore rib mobility, reduce guarding and improve neck/shoulder mechanics.

3. Breath Reset (The Foundation of Every Body Pattern)

This one is essential — and works for nearly every client.

How to cue it:

  1. 👉Slow nasal inhale

  2. 👉Expand ribs outwards

  3. 👉Soften shoulders

  4. 👉Long exhale through the mouth

  5. Repeat 5–8 cycles

Why it works:
Breath resets the nervous system, deep core and rib mechanics.
When clients learn to breathe well, their whole body moves better — and holds less tension.

Why Simple Aftercare Works Best

Your clients already live full, busy lives.
They don’t need perfect routines — they need repeatable ones.

When you give clients simple, effective support between sessions:

✔ They feel more in control of their body
✔ Their results last longer
✔ They rely less on quick fixes
✔ They build awareness of their patterns
✔ They understand why your treatment works
✔ And your treatment outcomes improve significantly

A Final Tip for Therapists

Encourage clients to do their reset:

after work

before training

before bed

or whenever they feel tightness building

Consistency beats intensity.
